Bringing STEM to Life at Ranken Jordan

Employee volunteers brought STEM to life through hands-on experiments for Ranken Jordan patients and families.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the team members who volunteered during STEM Week at Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital this year. Their creativity, enthusiasm, and hands-on support made the experience engaging and memorable for patients and their families. A special thank-you to Jamie Underwood for coordinating another successful event.

Over three days, employees led five sessions for patients and their siblings, guiding them through experiments such as popsicle-stick catapults, volcanic rainbow eruptions, and magical glitter explosions. Volunteers helped participants build, measure, combine materials, make predictions, and observe each reaction. By asking questions, demonstrating each step, and encouraging children to test their own ideas, the team transformed every activity into an interactive learning experience, and celebrated each launch, colorful eruption, and unexpected result along the way.

A new theme each day added variety and imagination: Summer Camp inspired playful outdoor discovery, Under the Sea encouraged ocean-themed exploration, and the Fourth of July brought a festive burst of color and energy.

We’re proud of the joy, curiosity, and creativity our volunteers inspired and grateful to everyone who helped bring STEM to life at Ranken Jordan.
