William Gary Mallard 1952-2023
McClure Engineering mourns the loss of retired Mechanical Designer, Bill Mallard, who passed away on May 21, 2023, at the age of 70.
Bill Mallard was an esteemed member of the McClure Engineering team for over 27 years, from 1991 until 2019. At the time of his arrival, the company employed only 28 individuals, and Bill played a pivotal role in its growth and success. Throughout his tenure, he had the privilege of collaborating with renowned McClure Engineering veterans, including Bill Coad, Al Black, Phil Sutherlin, and Jerry Williams. His dedication and expertise contributed significantly to the completion of more than 360 projects, amounting to over 12,000 hours of diligent work for his top client, Washington University School of Medicine. In recognition of his remarkable commitment, he was honored with not one but two Golden Getaways, celebrating his 20-year and 25-year milestones respectively.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bill Mallard was an avid golfer and a devoted fan of St. Louis sports teams, passionately supporting the St. Louis Blues and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Maureen Barber Hill, two stepchildren, two brothers, one sister, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His loss is deeply felt by his colleagues at McClure Engineering, where his contributions will be remembered and cherished. Bill Mallard’s dedication, expertise, and warm presence will be greatly missed, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
