29th Annual SIH Slice of Life Golf Tournament
The 29th Annual SIH Slice of Life Golf Tournament united teams and Gateway PGA Pros for a day of fun and fundraising, supporting the expansion of psychiatric care at the SIH Mulberry Center.
Last month, the Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) Foundation and HMC Foundation hosted the 29th Annual SIH Slice of Life Golf Tournament. This event brought together 5-person teams, each accompanied by a Gateway PGA Pro, to raise essential funds for SIH. The day was filled with delicious food, refreshing drinks, custom shirts, enticing prizes, an engaging mobile bidding auction, and much more.
This year, the McClure Engineering team had the pleasure of being paired with Gateway PGA Pro Zane Roberts. The funds raised from the event were dedicated to SIH’s Mulberry Center in Harrisburg. SIH is committed to improving access to inpatient psychiatric care for residents of Southern Illinois by expanding services at the SIH Mulberry Center. It’s worth noting that in the lower third of Illinois, which encompasses 30 counties, there are currently only 61 beds available for inpatient psychiatric care, with 31 of those beds located at Mulberry Center and the remainder situated 90 miles away.
The expansion of the Mulberry Center is crucial, as many patients currently need to travel out of the area for care, which can significantly hinder their recovery process due to the distance from family, friends, and everyday life. Furthermore, SIH plans to enhance the Mulberry Center to continue providing quality psychiatric care within a setting that also offers comprehensive medical services.
McClure Engineering is proud to support SIH’s efforts to expand the Mulberry Center, and this enjoyable day on the golf course played a vital role in contributing toward this noble cause.
Join us in celebrating the success of this year’s tournament and in looking forward to many more years of community support and engagement for a healthier Southern Illinois.
