Keith Cooper Chairman of the Board + Principal McClure Engineering
  • 40+ Industry Experience
  • 29+ Years with McClure Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science – Electrical Engineering (University Notre Dame)
  • St. Louis Consulting Engineers Council: National Electrical Contractors Association
  • Electrical Board of Missouri and Illinois: Treasurer (Past Chairman of the Board, Treasurer, and Grounding Instructor)

Since joining the firm in 1992, Keith Cooper has been responsible for electrical design for a variety of projects, including recreation centers, performance auditoriums, healthcare facilities, municipal buildings, medium voltage power distribution, university classroom buildings, data centers, central chilled/hot water plants, and building communications infrastructure. Keith was President of McClure Engineering from 2009 to 2018 during which time McClure became recognized as one of St. Louis’ Best Places to Work. Keith now serves as Chairman of the Board. He received his B.S.E.E. from Notre Dame and holds a P.E. in more than 15 states. Keith is also an avid runner who has been instrumental in helping the firm become recognized as one of St. Louis’ Healthiest Employers. Prior to joining McClure, Keith gained valuable experience as project engineer/manager/estimator for several electrical contractors.

During his tenure at McClure, Keith has trained and mentored many of the firm’s electrical engineers and designers. He brings a practical approach to his projects that addresses constructability and cost awareness. He has been intimately involved with nearly every facet of our business and a majority of our clients over the years.

Unfortunately, I never met Chuck McClure, the founder of our firm, but I have gotten to work with all of his successors, Bill Coad, Phil Sutherlin, and Jerry Williams, as well as Tom McCarthy who was the first electrical engineer to work for McClure Engineering. Between their mentorship and collaboration with my peers at McClure, it has always been a fertile training ground here for me and anyone else who takes advantage of it. A lot of our leadership and senior staff started their careers as interns here and grew from these resources, especially those near daily discussions around the lunch table in the basement of our office at 7616 Big Bend Boulevard. Surround yourself with good people and you’ll never feel alone when a challenge arises or as UCLA basketball coach said, “Surround yourself with good people who will argue with you!”. That’s always been the case at McClure.
