KIDstruction 2024

Building Hope: McClure Engineering’s Inaugural Support for St. Louis Children’s Hospital

At McClure Engineering, our commitment to community outreach and giving back led us to participate in St. Louis Children’s Hospital’s KIDstruction Drive this year. As an institution with deep roots dating back to 1879 and closely affiliated with our esteemed client, Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis Children’s Hospital stands as the oldest pediatric healthcare facility west of the Mississippi River. Their dedication to providing exceptional care and services to every child and family underscores their pivotal role in our community.

During KIDstruction Week from August 5th to the 9th, the architectural, construction, and engineering sectors in St. Louis joined forces to support the hospital’s noble mission. Contributions made during this time play a crucial role in empowering the Child Life Services at St. Louis Children’s to create enriching healthcare experiences for young patients and their families. By offering avenues for play, music, art, and education, they strive to ease anxieties, fears, and the challenges of separation, fostering a nurturing environment for healing.

One of the remarkable initiatives funded by generous donors is the Center for Families at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. This facility provides essential amenities to families during their child’s treatment journey, ensuring moments of comfort and normalcy. From a simple cup of coffee to the opportunity for shared family dinners, these gestures make a profound impact on families facing medical adversities.

In our first year participating, McClure Engineering set a fundraising target of $1,500—a goal that we proudly achieved! Led by Drive Leader Kurtis Arens, our team embarked on an engaging fundraising journey that included a night of Pro Golf and a lively brunch where employees could contribute to the cause. The enthusiasm and dedication displayed by Kurtis, our organizing team, and all participants were instrumental in making this initiative a remarkable success.

As we reflect on this meaningful experience, we express deep gratitude to everyone involved in making our contribution to St. Louis Children’s Hospital’s KIDstruction Drive a resounding triumph. This initial foray has only strengthened our resolve to continue making a positive impact, and we eagerly look forward to further opportunities to support this noble cause in the future. Stay tuned for more updates on our community engagements and philanthropic endeavors!
