Clinical Lab Renovations
BJC Christian Hospital NE and Christian Hospital NW – St. Louis, Missouri
Project Background
As part of a system-wide clinical laboratory upgrade, Christian Hospital Northeast and Northwest Healthcare were renovated to facilitate the installation of state-of-the-art testing equipment. McClure Engineering partnered with the Lawrence Group and BJC Healthcare to address the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems required to support the equipment installation.
Project Deliverables
McClure reconfigured the mechanical and plumbing systems to ensure adequate airflow. Additionally, RO Water and drainage systems were provided for the more utility-demanding equipment.
A new emergency power electrical feed was engineered to support a new laboratory equipment UPS. This created a challenge because the available capacity to feed the 40kVA laboratory UPS was limited as the nearby essential electrical system fed critical portions of the facility and could not suffer extended outages. McClure Engineering worked with Christian Hospital and Guarantee Electric to engineer a solution that prevented major outages to the electrical system serving patient care spaces while ensuring the laboratory equipment was fed from the emergency electrical system.
